![]() Book signing in Brazil in Fall of 08. |
In the years prior to authoring The Manual of Equine Dentistry, Dr. Allen wrote many articles on the subject for horse-interest and veterinary publications. The author has been featured in many newspapers, interviewing him while performing equine dental procedures at the many barns across the country where he provides routine dental care. Certified by the International Association of Equine Dentistry Dr. Allen incorporates knowledge gleaned from professionals in the field including both equine dental technicians and veterinarians. Combining science and practical applications from technicians, has placed Dr. Allen in the unique position of trying to bring the two camps together for a mutual goal, the well-being of the horse. As Fronster White, the home state of Missouri's compliment to Baxter Black , Tom illustrates in his limerick in the Manual's preface, that it is good to "keep your sense of humor." Not unlike the celebrated humorist Tom Allen is also "an observer of the cracks in the universe" as well as a doctor trying to repair them. email: tallenhrsdntst@gmail.com |

When her husband/author Tom asked Dawn to illustrate his book that was to be published by Elsevier Science, she knew it would be a big project but also good experience. With no formal education Dawn produced over a hundred drawings and organized the photographs for the Manual of Equine Dentistry. It was lot of work and there were many challenging concepts to illustrate but with Tom's help and guidance, the book became a successful team effort. Dawn's first love is humorous illustration and cartoons and working on the infamous tabloid: the Eclipse newzpaper. Muleicorn Press has created opportunity through diligence. Dawn is happy to work with her husband Tom again toward a mutual goal. email: muleicorn@windstream.net |
